Most birth control pills available today contain a combination of 2 hormones, estrogen and progestin. However, estrogen in birth control pills has the potential to interfere with lactation (breast milk production), so birth control pills containing estrogen often are not prescribed to breast-feeding moms.
ORTHO MICRONOR® , also known as the mini-pill, is a "progestin-only" pill. Unlike conventional birth control pills ("combination pills"), ORTHO MICRONOR® contains no estrogen and a lower level of progestin than conventional birth control pills.
As a result, ORTHO MICRONOR® will not affect the quality or amount of your breast milk and it has no adverse effects on the health, growth or development of your baby. However, isolated cases of decreased milk production have been reported.
ORTHO MICRONOR® has been used successfully for
more than 20 years by millions of women.
ORTHO MICRONOR® is indicated for the prevention of pregnancy.
